The Children’s Hero was sponsored by Advanced Physical Therapy Center, the Health Professional Hero by Genesys Health System, the Educator of the Year by the Captain’s Club of Woodfield and Mott Community College, the Hometown Hero by Comfort Inn (Pinnacle Hospitality) and the Citizen of the Year by the Grand Blanc View Newspaper.ĭort Federal was honored as the Hometown Hero. These heroes take the form of teachers, medical and business professionals and just plain ordinary residents who take it upon themselves to sacrifice and go the extra mile to help individuals, and as a consequence, make it a better community and world to live in.Įvery year there are five categories to nominate for the Chairman’s Awards, and the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce additionally selects one of the nominees who doesn’t win an award, for special recognition in culmination of the event.Įach award category is sponsored by a local business. One of the more special, but overlooked events in the area is the Chamber of Commerce’s annual celebration of local heroes, both in Grand Blanc, and the county, which brings recognition to those who, behind the scenes and without fanfare, do good deeds.
